Baillie Clan

Likely originating from the French word, ‘baillie’, meaning ‘bailiff’ or ‘steward’, the Baillie family would rise to prominence in the Highland capital of Inverness in the 15th century.

Today, the Baillie clan have an estate on the shores of Loch Ness where the Baillies of Dochfour, the principal family of the clan, reside.
