Cooper Clan

Believed to have been derived from the town of Cupar in Fife, the first instance of the Cooper name being used comes in 1245, when a Selomone de Coupir is recorded as having witnessed a charter.

The family were originally centred around the town in Fife that bears their name. However, the name is now most common in the highlands.
