MacNab Clan

Derived from the Gaelic Mac An Aba, meaning “child of the abbot”, the MacNab clan are descended from Abraruadh – the Abbot of Glen Dochart and Strathearn and a possible son of Kenneth MacAlpin.

The MacNabs are most traditionally associated with the Scottish Highlands, particularly MacNab Castle which served as the clan’s historic seat.

The current clan chief is James William Archibald Macnab of Macnab. He is the 24th Chief of Clan Macnab.
