The Shaw Clan are believed to have been descended from Shaw MacDuff who was a younger son of Duncan, the Thane or Earl of Fife and can even trace their ancestry back to Kenneth MacAlpin, the man commonly believed to have been the first king of a united Scotland.
The Shaws would go on to become associated with the Highlands of Scotland, particularly the district of Strathspey. It is here that the clan’s historic seat would be located at Doune of Rothiemurchus.
The current clan chief of Clan Shaw is Iain Shaw of Tordarroch.
