Strachan Clan

Deriving their name from the Gaelic word Strath, meaning “broad valley”, the Strachan Clan would go on to settle in the Scottish Highlands.

It is the district of Strachan in present-day Aberdeenshire that the clan would become commonly associated with and the clan would go on to control a number of castles there including Glenkindie House, House of Thornton, House of Carmyllie and the House of Lenturk.

The clan is currently armigerous – meaning it has no clan chief. However, it does have a commander, Charles Robert Lund (Rob) Strachan.
