Urquhart Clan

Deriving their name from the place of Airchart, the Urquharts would go on to share their name with a castle on the banks of Loch Ness and two parishes – one in Elgin and one in the Black Isle.

It would be the Black Isle where the clan would eventually settle and it is here that their historic clan seat, Castlecraig, would be located. The castle is now ruined but served as the home of the chief family of the clan from the 16th century.

The current clan chief is Colonel Wilkins Urquhart of Urquhart, 28th Chief of Clan Urquhart.
