Derived from the Gaelic Mac Ghille Chaluim (meaning son of the disciple of Columba) the Maccallums are a Scottish Highland clan associated with the areas of Dumbartonshire, Stirlingshire and Argyllshire.
The clan traditionally held castles at Lochore and Poltalloch before moving into their current seat – Duntrune Castle in Argyll – in 1792. The castle is the oldest continuously occupied castle in mainland Scotland and is currently owned by the clan chief of Maccallum, Robin Neill Malcolm.
